Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at WJ Groundwater Canada Ltd. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, including hydraulic pumps, drills, and track or truck-mounted rotary drilling machines.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Keep maintenance reports and documentation
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Perform other routine maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults
  • Refer to schematic drawings or product manuals to repair parts
  • Perform routine maintenance work on water well drilling rigs and equipment
  • Oversee safety of operations
  • Make emergency repairs to equipment
  • Maintain detailed repair, inspection and certification records and reports
Requirements:
  • 5 years or more of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair
  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate

Work Environment:

The work environment is outdoors, dusty, and noisy. The work setting is fabrication, and the level of expertise required is maintenance and repair. The tasks involve instructing apprentices, troubleshooting and inspecting equipment, adjusting equipment, and keeping maintenance reports and documentation.
