About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our growing team. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance team, you will be responsible for conducting routine property and site inspections, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring the efficient operation of building systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine property and site inspections to identify maintenance needs and perform tasks as required.
  • Complete preventive and demand maintenance tasks, including chemical treatment maintenance, filter changes, and equipment repairs.
  • Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, and life safety systems.
  • Monitor electrical power distribution systems and respond to alarms in a timely and methodical manner.
  • Perform minor repairs, including replacing washers, faucets, and clearing drains.
  • Ensure maximum energy efficiency and inspect/operate/maintain and repair mechanical/electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with applicable government codes and regulations.

Education Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Building Environment System certificate or a trade license (BES 1 and/or 2).

Work Experience Requirements

  • Building Operator with 1-3 years' facilities maintenance and operations experience.
  • Strong technical capabilities in building systems and equipment.

Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements

  • Ability to work independently, traveling to various sites in the GTA.
  • Excellent customer service skills in ensuring client requests are responded to professionally and promptly.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and/or working at heights.
  • Bending and lifting (under 30kg) required.
  • Valid driver's license is required, with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
