{"Job Summary

As a key member of the IDL Projects Inc. team, the Safety Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This position requires a strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines and the ability to implement and provide on-site direction on the company's Health and Safety programs and policies in compliance with legislative Health and Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

* Coordinates and administers an effective health and safety program and provides advice and guidance to the Project Team on Health and safety issues and topics
* Performs general administrative and recordkeeping functions and procedures including reviewing subcontractor's safety programs; maintaining inventory for all hazardous products, first aid and personal protective equipment used on site; reporting and tracking incidents & near misses, and maintaining and filing confidential information
* Creates clear and timely "Flash Reports" and participates in detailed, fact-based incident investigations and management
* Implements client and IDL Health and Safety Programs under the coaching of the H&S Manager
* Participates in project safety meetings
* Provides safety material for daily Tool Box meetings and is able to lead Tool Box and Safety meetings
* Engages in the development and enhancement of Safe Work Practices and Job Hazard Assessments
* Acquires basic knowledge of site safety programs, emergency response, fire control systems and personal protective equipment and is able to convey these to project team members & contractors
* Conducts facility inspections and safety audits regularly to monitor safe work practices and procedures
* Prepares inspection reports and ensures corrective action is taken when deficiencies are identified
* Collaborates with the Project Manager and Safety Manager to ensure health and safety programs meet legislative compliance
* Keeps abreast of current and new health and safety laws and regulations, ensuring the company complies with these laws.

Requirements

* Proven experience in a safety coordinator role or similar
* Industrial Construction industry experience is preferred
* Accreditation as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Construction Safety Officer (CSO)
* Related post-secondary Health & Safety degrees, diplomas and certifications are an asset
* Strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
* Effective communication skills and ability to interact with key stakeholders in verbal, written and electronic form
* Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
* Strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
* Strong computer expertise including experience with MS Word and Excel
