We are seeking a Technical Lead, Payment Services Expert to join our team at Peoples Group.



Job Summary

In this role, you will lead our development team in delivering reliable, scalable, and performant systems with resiliency and security top of mind. You will be responsible for ensuring teams deliver high-quality software, code review PRs, coordinate releases, and ensure user stories are understood and clear. Additionally, you will solve technical challenges with the team, whether it's a challenging new feature or solving an issue integrating a new technology. As a people leader, you will be strength-based, engagement-focused, and performance-oriented, understanding yourself, your people, your subject matter, your outcomes, and how your team's work contributes to the overall success of the organization.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will have 8+ years of experience working in software development, 4+ years of experience working on payment systems, including real-time payment systems, an asset. You will participate in defining standards and guidelines around development (design, implementation), CI/CD, etc. Your mastery in Backend development, Java (JDK 17.x/21.x) Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Web, Spring Data, Spring Integration, etc.) is required, as well as expert knowledge with Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.), In-memory databases (Redis, etc.), Non-relational databases (MongoDB, etc.). Experience with CI/CD methodologies and tools (Jenkins, GitHub Action CI, CircleCI, etc.) is also necessary. Proficiency working on cloud-native microservices is an asset, as is strong understanding of IT security best practices and data protection regulations. A Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field is required.

About the Team:

You will be working with a flexible and hybrid work environment, offering a combination of in-office and remote work from home. Typically, you'll work regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times. The successful candidate will be expected to relocate and reside in an area within commuting distance to the Toronto offices.

About the Salary:

We offer a competitive annual salary, estimated to be between $130,000.00 and $160,000.00 per year, depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience that the chosen candidate possesses. We also offer a discretionary profit share opportunity, group benefits, and the option to participate in our RRSP matching program, beginning the first day of employment.
