About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Food Production Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our patients, clients, and customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cooking and food preparation, with a minimum of one year of experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for following established recipes and food safety guidelines to ensure the highest quality of food is served.

You will work closely with our Food Service Supervisor to ensure that all food is prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.

We are looking for a team player who is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve high-quality meals to patients, clients, and customers
  • Follow established recipes and food safety guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide excellent customer service

Requirements:

  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in cooking and food preparation
  • Successful completion of Food Handlers Course within the past five years
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other staff, clients, and management
  • Willingness to learn, accept direction, and work effectively in a team environment following established policies and procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound professional judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Physical capabilities to perform duties of the position, including heavy lifting, working flexible hours, withstanding the demands of walking and standing during shifts, and working in an environment with heat and temperature fluctuations
  • Travel between sites will be required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
