Wilfrid Laurier University is seeking a highly skilled Medical Secretary II to join our Student Wellness Centre team in Brantford. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the smooth operation and positive atmosphere within the centre.

About the Role

This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $33.72 to $35.66 per hour, with annual step progression up to $38.55 per hour. You will be responsible for various administrative duties, including facilitating student traffic, responding to high-priority requests, and overseeing administrative functions within the centre.

You will work closely with our team of professionals, including family physicians, registered nurses, and counsellors, to provide physical, emotional, and mental health support to students. Your expertise in medical office procedures, knowledge of medical/legal ramifications, and proficiency with electronic medical records will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding to student requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to privacy regulations.
  • Facilitate registration processes, scheduling appointments, and managing front-line requests.
  • Coordinate referrals, communicate with specialists, and manage billing processes.
  • Perform daily OHIP billing, third-party billings, and other administrative duties as required.
Requirements
  • Diploma in medical office administration or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience working in a medical office environment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, OHIP and WSIB billing practices, and electronic medical record software.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
