At Zymeworks, we are committed to discovering and developing innovative cancer therapies. As a Senior Scientist, Cell Biology Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our team's success.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will oversee the design, coordination, execution, and analysis of in vitro pharmacology experiments for the screening and progression of novel technologies for ADCs.
  • You will functionally characterize small molecules, antibodies, bioconjugates, or ADCs using various cell-based assays and techniques, including flow cytometry, high throughput screening, live cell imaging, 3D tissue culture, and other methods as required.
  • You will lead and execute novel assay development initiatives, designing and troubleshooting new methods to profile the mechanism of action of ADCs across multiple payload classes.
  • You will apply your knowledge of cancer biology, medicinal chemistry, and other scientific methodologies to conduct technically advanced analyses and data interpretations.
  • You will effectively collaborate with members outside of your immediate team to coordinate the execution of decision-making experiments for different projects and share progress updates with the team.
  • You will prepare and disseminate data presentations for group meetings, summarizing results and next steps.
  • You will act as an area representative in specific projects.
  • You will provide leadership, mentorship, and scientific/technical guidance to junior staff.
  • You will support mammalian tissue culture activities within the group, working with the team to ensure cell lines are properly expanded, cryopreserved, and databases updated as required.
Requirements
  • You must have a PhD in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, or a related field, with a minimum of 1-2 years' relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • You should have demonstrated experience with cell-based or biochemical assay development.
  • You should have a demonstrated understanding of in vitro cancer models and therapeutic mechanisms of actions.
  • Experience with characterization and analysis of biotherapeutics (small molecules, antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, ADCs, or other immunoconjugates) is an asset.
  • Experience with high-throughput screening assays and workflows is also an asset.
