About the Role:

CDS Group of Companies is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Manager to join our Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll processes, providing exceptional customer service to our employees, and maintaining compliance with provincial and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for over 270 employees across three provinces, including providing payroll support to our US-based company in California.
  • Set up new employees in Dayforce and issue ROE's, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Research and communicate payroll rules and regulations in the provinces where our business operates, and implement new rules and regulations in our payroll software.
  • Answer employee and management inquiries related to payroll, providing clear and concise information.
  • Generate Pension & Insurable Earnings Review (PIER) and validate necessary discrepancies, reconcile and issue T4's.
  • Create and report monthly financial labor analysis to management, providing insights into labor costs and trends.
  • Perform miscellaneous reporting related to payroll as requested by management or other personnel.
  • Maintain GL mapping, run generated GL reports, and provide to accountants, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Process all Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) payments for BC/AB/SK, and BC EHT payments, reconciling these accounts and vacation GL accounts.
  • Complete any payroll-related grants or subsidies that the government may offer to businesses, staying up-to-date with new or upcoming payroll rules and regulations.
  • Perform intercompany transactions, such as invoicing or transferring expenses related to labor between companies.
  • Assist with other accounting tasks as required, working closely with HR for Group RRSP plan and group benefit plan administration.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years' experience running payroll in a dynamic environment, with proficiency in Dayforce payroll software.
  • Knowledgeable and able to adhere to payroll rules and regulations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and California.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills with MS Office and Excel specifically.
  • A fast learner, well-organized, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Team-oriented, skilled at establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers of all levels.
