Job Title: Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our team at Fitness World. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing semi-monthly payroll for 700+ employees across 16 locations in British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll from onboarding to offboarding, ensuring accuracy and compliance with employment standards.
  • Prepare and process regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments, such as bonuses and vacation pay, within tight deadlines.
  • Process terminations and ensure compliance with employment standards, including ROE, vacation pay, and final pay cheques.
  • Ensure all statutory tax and compliance requirements are met, including preparing payroll reports for WCB/labour standard inquiries and quarterly WCB payments.
  • Compile, review, and monitor reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts, including semi-monthly payroll reports, labour usage reports, and staff counts.
  • Respond to employees' payroll inquiries and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain time-off records for club management staff.
  • Assist with Human Resources administrative duties, such as onboarding, offboarding, and benefits.

    Requirements:

    • 2-3 years' experience with full-cycle payroll processing.
    • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate from the Canadian Payroll Association or working towards certification (preferred).
    • Clear and up-to-date understanding of BC Labour Standards.
    • Exposure to United States payroll requirements, specifically Washington, Oregon, and California (preferred).
    • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
    • High attention to detail.
    • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
    • Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
