Mental Health Liaison Nurse Position

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Liaison Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health.
This is a Full-Time opportunity, and the successful candidate will be based in Langley.
The salary range for this position is approximately $41.42 - $59.52 per hour, depending on experience.
About the RoleAs a Mental Health Liaison Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing person-centered care to patients with psychiatric and concurrent disorders. You will work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to perform intake assessments, offer crisis intervention, and provide input into patient care plans.
You will also assist with ensuring effective patient flow through collaboration with Emergency Department nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities- Screens psychiatric referrals and gathers background information to determine service priorities.
- Performs psychosocial assessments and collects collateral related to patients' primary support group, social environment, occupation, education, housing, finance, health service access, and legal problems.
- Develops care plans with final dispositions authorized by the Emergency Room Physician or consulting psychiatrist.
- Provides general and crisis counselling to patients and their families, including short-term crisis follow-up.
- Liaises with the interprofessional community mental health and substance use team, agencies, and other community service providers.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A degree in nursing from an approved school.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One year of recent related experience in acute or community mental health and substance use setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
You must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
