Job Summary:

The Upper Canada District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to provide support to students with exceptional needs in our schools. As a key member of our educational team, you will work under the direction of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher and classroom teacher to provide individualized support to students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students with exceptional needs in a classroom environment
  • Implement special education programs related to behavior, communication, intellectual, or physical needs
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, teachers, and other school staff
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behavior
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Secondary school diploma and two-year or three-year Community College diploma in a related field (e.g., Child & Youth Worker, Registered Early Childhood Educator, Behavioral Science Technician, etc.)
  • Related work experience an asset
  • Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training/certification an asset
