Legal Aid Ontario is seeking a highly skilled Translator to join our Multi-Language Services team.

We are committed to providing equal access to justice for all Ontarians, regardless of their language proficiency. As a Translator, you will play a critical role in helping us achieve this goal by translating government communications and documents from English to French.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of translation principles, excellent knowledge of governmental and legal-related terminology, and the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively in French.

This is a permanent full-time position that offers a competitive salary range of $73,973 to $96,164 per year, depending on experience. If you are passionate about promoting linguistic diversity and cultural sensitivity, we encourage you to apply.

As a Senior Localization Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Translating complex government communications and documents from English to French
  • Coordinating and prioritizing incoming translation requests
  • Working closely with internal clients to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of translated materials
  • Managing and maintaining Legal Aid Ontario's terminology, lexicons, and translation memories

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A university degree in translation or a related field
  • At least three years of experience translating English to French materials of varying complexity
  • Superior command of French grammar and legal references
  • Excellent knowledge of computer-assisted translation and translation memories
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
