Mechanical Designer Job Description

Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec, is a leading consulting engineering firm that provides integrated solutions to institutional, industrial, residential, and commercial clients. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Revit Designer/Modeler to join our team in our Toronto office.

Responsibilities:
  • Design mechanical engineering work, including mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, for vertical infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with the project team for delivery to clients.
  • Document study progress and results through the preparation of memos, minutes, and reports.
  • Liaise with clients to exchange information regarding project progress.
  • Use Revit to create and maintain building mechanical models, drawings, and schedules.
  • Develop designs that meet client requirements and adhere to a high standard of form, fit, function, appearance, and quality.
  • Identify discrepancies in drawings and information and resolve through appropriate methods and channels.
  • Prepare site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients.
  • Review shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability.
Qualifications:
  • Technologist diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit 3D modeling is an asset.
  • Prior experience in mechanical systems, specifically related to industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings, preferably in the consulting engineering industry, is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of building services, HVAC, plumbing, and drainage, and fire protection.
  • Experience with quality control and production scheduling is preferred.
  • Ability to liaise with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and conflicting demands on time with a rapidly shifting workload.
  • Strong time management skills.
