The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting our clients in all phases of the design process, from functional planning and conceptual layout through to detailed design and construction support. This will involve performing mechanical engineering work, preparing contract drawings and specifications, and documenting study progress/results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, for industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings.
  • Prepare and review contract drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Document study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes, and reports.
  • Liaise with clients to exchange information regarding project progress.
  • Use Revit to create and maintain building mechanical models, drawings, and schedules.
  • Develop designs that meet client requirements and adhere to a high standard of form, fit, function, appearance, and quality.
  • Identify discrepancies in drawings and information and resolve through appropriate methods and channels.
  • Prepare site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients.
  • Review shop drawings and design details to ensure continuity and viability.

Requirements:

  • Technologist diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit 3D modeling is an asset.
  • Prior experience in mechanical systems, specifically related to industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings, preferably in the consulting engineering industry is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of building services, HVAC, plumbing, and drainage, and fire protection.
  • Experience with quality control and production scheduling is preferred.
  • Ability to liaise with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and conflicting demands on time with a rapidly shifting work load.
  • Strong time management skills.
