Faculty of Fine Arts Opportunities

The University of Lethbridge invites applications for Sessional Lecturer positions in the Faculty of Fine Arts. We are seeking qualified candidates to teach a variety of courses in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Drama, Music, Digital Audio Arts, New Media, and Cinema.

Responsibilities include teaching and mentoring students, developing course materials, and contributing to the academic community. Successful candidates will have a strong background in their field and excellent communication skills.

Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names of three references. The deadline for applications is October 7, 2025.

Course Opportunities

We are seeking candidates to teach the following courses:

Indigenous Art Studio
This course provides a space for introductory and advanced learning in traditional and contemporary forms of Indigenous creative and cultural practices. Students will explore concepts, theory, and processes of contemporary Indigenous Art in Turtle Island.

Landmarks
In this studio-based course, students will apply conceptual, technical, and creative skills in the research and production of contemporary art projects. Students will examine the contextualization of their work in relation to site-specific past, present, and futures.

Interdisciplinary Indigenous Creative Practices
This special topics course will introduce students to an area of Indigenous Creative Practice. The topic or focus of the course will vary based on the instructor's expertise and interests.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to teach the course through a combination of education, training, and artistic experience. Candidates should demonstrate that their artistic practice is located within Indigenous worldviews, methodologies, epistemologies, and/or material practices. Preferred candidates will demonstrate strong connections to Blackfoot culture, artistic practices, language, and/or community.
