Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Baycrest. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing therapeutic programs that promote the well-being and quality of life of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Work with our Therapeutic Recreation and Central teams to design and deliver innovative programs that cater to the diverse needs of our clients.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of program activities, client progress, and outcomes.
  • Team Collaboration: Attend interprofessional team meetings to ensure seamless communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, orient, supervise, and set expectations with volunteers to support program delivery.
  • Professional Development: Contribute to the growth and development of our interprofessional team and therapeutic recreation professionals.
  • Service Coordination: Collaborate with other staff and departments to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Supply Management: Develop and maintain an inventory of program supplies to ensure smooth program execution.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of a two-year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) or Activity Professionals of Ontario (APO).
  • Experience: Proven experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating creative recreation programs.
  • Supervisory Experience: Experience in supervising volunteers preferred.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Cultural Competence: Knowledge of Jewish culture, Holy Days, and festivals an asset.
  • Language Skills: Second language an asset, i.e., Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, or Hungarian.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.

  • Compensation: Hourly range: $27.36 - $34.07.
