Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Baycrest. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing therapeutic programs that promote leisure and well-being for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation and Culture & Arts teams to design and deliver innovative programs that cater to diverse client needs.
  • Conduct thorough documentation of program activities and client progress.
  • Participate in interprofessional team meetings to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Supervise and train volunteers to support program implementation.
  • Contribute to professional development opportunities for the interprofessional team and therapeutic recreation professionals.
  • Coordinate services with other departments to ensure comprehensive client care.
  • Develop and maintain inventory of program supplies to ensure efficient program delivery.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a two (2) year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent.
  • Membership in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario ('TRO') or Activity Professionals of Ontario ('APO').
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating creative recreation programs.
  • Experience in supervising volunteers is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with a geriatric population with multiple medical conditions and/or cognitive impairment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, Holy Days, and festivals is an asset.
  • Second language proficiency is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel is required.
