Job Summary:

Baycrest is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing therapeutic programs that promote leisure and well-being for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation and Culture & Arts teams to design and deliver therapeutic programs that cater to the diverse needs of our clients.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify client needs and preferences, and develop personalized plans to promote leisure and well-being.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of program supplies and materials.
  • Supervise and support volunteers in their roles, ensuring they are equipped to provide high-quality services to our clients.
  • Attend interprofessional team meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration with other departments.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to therapeutic recreation services.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a two-year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in a Recreation Therapist role or equivalent.
  • Member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) or Activity Professionals of Ontario (APO) preferred.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating creative recreation programs preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
