About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance and Engineering Director to lead our Western Canada Supply Chain team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving performance in operational reliability and associated KPIs, providing technical expertise and guidance to our sites, and supporting engineering projects across Western Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion Quality, Cost, Service, and Safety Performance: Lead the development and implementation of strategies to achieve exceptional business results, focusing on quality, cost, service, and safety.
  • Lead the Maintenance and Engineering Department: Support employee and team development, people planning, and performance management, ensuring a high-performing team that drives business success.
  • Develop and Coach Leaders and Team Members: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, providing guidance and coaching to Managers, Supply Chain Leaders, and Team Members to solve operational issues and achieve performance outcomes.
  • Drive Organizational Health: Partner with Human Resources to promote strong employee relations, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
  • Ensure Continuous Improvement: Implement and maintain processes that drive business performance, influencing change across multiple teams and functions.
  • Execute Effective Change Management: Drive business performance while minimizing people impacts, ensuring a smooth transition to new processes and systems.
  • Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to achieve strategic planning, problem-solving, and performance achievement.
  • Maintain Facility Equipment and Infrastructure: Oversee the maintenance and optimization of all facility equipment, auxiliary function equipment, building infrastructure, grounds, and utilities.
  • Provide Technical Knowledge: Develop and implement capital planning and project engineering, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Maintain P&L Responsibility: Oversee maintenance cost centers, including repair and maintenance, maintenance labor, utilities, and capital improvement plans.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure regulatory, environmental, and legal compliance related to Maintenance and utilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or Similar: A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical and Leadership Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of experience leading in a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of success.
  • Leadership Capabilities: Proven ability to lead a large and complex team, demonstrating leadership capabilities through influence, collaboration, and coaching mentality.
  • Unwavering Commitment to Performance: A strong commitment to achieving exceptional business results, with a focus on quality, cost, service, and safety.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage projects, including business development, compensation, continuous improvement decision making, employee benefits, group leadership, and interpersonal skill leadership.
  • Ability to Work in a Complex Environment: Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, unstructured environment, making quick decisions based on dynamic variables.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in all formats to support cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, people development, and coaching/mentorship.
