Job Title:

Marble Tile Setter

Job Description:
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate required
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in marble tile setting
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Prepare Surfaces: Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered with marble tile
    • Mix and Apply Adhesives: Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel
    • Set Tiles: Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base
    • Align and Straighten Tiles: Align and straighten tiles to ensure even surface
    • Cut and Fit Tiles: Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools
    • Instruct Apprentices: Instruct apprentices in marble tile setting techniques
    • Pack Grout: Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout
    • Remove and Replace Tiles: Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles
    • Supervise Workers: Supervise other workers in the marble tile setting process
    • Design Mosaic Tiles: Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs
    • Install Anchor Bolts: Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires and brackets
    • Cut and Polish Marble: Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite
    • Install Terra Surfaces: Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces
    • Install Tile Strips: Install tile strips
    Work Environment:
    • Physical Demands: Physically demanding work requiring handling heavy loads
    • Work Load: Large workload with attention to detail required
    • Teamwork: Team player with excellent oral communication and reliability required
