Senior Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Barry Callebaut. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective health and safety programs across the site, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures, aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with management and employees to identify and mitigate hazards, promote a positive safety culture, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Analyze and respond to incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, audits, and other relevant data, providing regular updates to management.
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees on occupational health and safety topics, promoting awareness and competence.
- Collaborate with contractors and vendors to ensure their safety protocols meet company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of workplace conditions, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Manage WSIB claims, return-to-work plans, and other related activities, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in an occupational health and safety role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent knowledge of governing occupational health and safety regulations, including federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
- Experience with WSIB claims, return-to-work plans, and similar activities.
- Ability to professionally manage sensitive information, lead others, and influence positively.
- Self-motivated, action-oriented, and able to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and possessing strong prioritization, decision-making, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to provide high-level customer service, work with diverse personalities, and communicate effectively.
