Telephone Operator - Receptionist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Telephone Operator Receptionist to join our team at the Burnaby RCMP Detachment. As a key member of our public contact team, you will be responsible for operating and answering a multi-line switchboard system, providing information and direction to the public, and performing various clerical duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer and transfer calls to the appropriate department or individual
  • Provide information and direction to the public over the telephone
  • Perform various clerical duties, including data entry and record-keeping
  • Deal effectively with the public, staff, and officials in supplying information and assistance related to departmental operations
  • Speak distinctly with a good telephone manner

Requirements:

  • Up to high school graduation, including or supplemented by telephone/switchboard operation and typing training
  • Related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Sound knowledge of the operation of a multi-line switchboard system and of the functions, regulations, and rules governing Police Department operations and activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
