Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Mathematics and Science Teacher to join our team at York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics and Science in our secondary division, with specific grade level assignments to be determined.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term curriculum plans, ensuring alignment with provincial standards and board policies.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons, utilizing a range of teaching methodologies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Evaluate and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and making data-driven instructional decisions.
  • Manage classroom environments, promoting a culture of respect, inclusivity, and academic excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of student progress and involving them in the educational process.
  • Stay current with best practices in teaching and learning, incorporating technology and innovative approaches to enhance student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives, promoting a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized institution.
  • Alberta Permanent or Interim Teaching Certificate.
  • Fluency in French is required for this position.
  • Valid first-aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is an asset.
  • Recent Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
