Job Title: Mathematics and Science Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Mathematics and Science Teacher to join our team at York Region District School Board.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics and Science in our secondary division, with specific grade level assignments to be determined. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in curriculum planning, lesson delivery, and assessment, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term curriculum plans for Mathematics and Science
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons to students, with a focus on differentiation and student-centered learning
  • Evaluate and assess student progress, using a variety of assessment tools and strategies
  • Manage classroom organization and behavior, with a focus on creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues, using a range of communication strategies
  • Stay up-to-date with current teaching methodologies and technologies, and integrate them into teaching practice
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent
  • Eligible for or in possession of an Alberta Permanent or Interim Teaching Certificate
  • Fluent in French (required for this position)
  • Valid first-aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme (desirable)
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
  • Commitment to providing high-quality educational experiences for students
  • Understanding of the philosophy and principles of French immersion education (an asset)
