Job Title: Human Resources Strategic Partner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Strategic Partner to join our team at Mohawk College. As a key member of our HR department, you will provide proactive and comprehensive HR consultancy, advisory, and coaching services to managers across the College.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead organizational reviews and design projects to enhance strategic, operational, and service goals.
  • Support the implementation of recommendations from organizational review and design projects, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, College policies, and legislative requirements.
  • Advise leadership teams on job descriptions, ensuring they accurately summarize job content, requirements, and context.
  • Support leadership teams in assessing and planning future staffing and workforce needs, considering changing volumes of work, advancements in technology, and other relevant changes.
  • Provide value-added advice on performance planning and review processes, facilitating annual performance calibration discussions to ensure fairness, transparency, and value for employees.
  • Coach leadership teams on ongoing performance management and feedback, providing advice on effective coaching relationships with employees.
  • Support leadership teams with performance issues and disciplinary processes, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and collective agreements.
  • Develop effective, accessible, and inclusive team dynamics and work culture through value-added advice and partnership with Organization & People Development and the Manager, Workplace Equity & Inclusion.
  • Coordinate and advise on HR data, analytics, and reports to support evidence-based decision making and enhance College operations.
  • Provide current and relevant advice and coaching on HR practices, procedures, policies, collective agreements, recruitment, employee relations issues, performance management, discipline issues, and organizational restructuring.
Requirements:
  • A three-year degree with specialized, professional qualifications, or equivalency, in Human Resources Management/Labour Relations, Business with Human Resources/Labour Relations, or a related field.
  • A Certified Human Resources Professional designation.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience as an HR professional with demonstrated experience in various HR functional areas.
  • HR and/or management experience within public sector or education fields is considered an asset.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy in typical work-related applications and HR information systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
