Job Summary

The Funding Commissioner is a key role within SSMU, responsible for assisting the Vice-President (Finance) in managing the Funding Committee. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as a solid understanding of financial management principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer the application process for SSMU Funding in conjunction with the Vice-President (Finance).
  • Advise and assist SSMU members and student groups on the funding application process.
  • Ensure that all funding information on the SSMU website is up-to-date.
  • Develop and maintain resources to support student groups with funding applications.
  • Review and summarize funding applications for presentation to the Funding Committee.
  • Chair the SSMU Funding Committee, preparing agendas, facilitating meetings, and taking minutes of decisions.
  • Report on Funding Committee decisions to the SSMU Legislative Council.
  • Maintain detailed records of all applications, approvals, rejections, and disbursements.
  • Make recommendations for changes to the SSMU by-laws for the Funding Committee.
  • Ensure the disbursement of funds in accordance with SSMU Internal Regulations.

Requirements

  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Understanding of Microsoft office suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and G Suit.
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills in English and French (an asset).

Additional Information

  • Paid position: $15.95/hour.
  • Average hours per week: 7.
  • Contract duration: November 27, 2023 to May 31st, 2024.
