Critical Care Nurse

The University of Alberta Hospital's Critical Care Program is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join its interdisciplinary care team. As a critical care nurse, you will provide evidence-based care to patients with critical illness or trauma, often with multisystem involvement. You will work collaboratively with the team to provide positive patient outcomes and excellence in patient and family-centered care while adhering to hospital policy and standards of care.
Job Summary:As a Registered Nurse in the Critical Care Program, you will be responsible for planning, assessing, implementing, and evaluating care using evidence-based practices. You will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to patients with complex medical conditions, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:- Provide evidence-based care to patients with critical illness or trauma
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Plan, assess, implement, and evaluate care using evidence-based practices
- Work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to patients with complex medical conditions
- Participate in the Code Team and Medical Emergency Team for the Walter C. McKenzie campus
- Support the Special Isolation Unit, caring for patients with complex isolation needs
- Join the Clinical Resource Team, providing care to both GSICU and Burn Unit patients
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Previous experience within an ICU setting, observation room, inpatient trauma, or experience with ventilated patients is preferred
- Certifications, training, or experience with ACLS, TNCC, CNA Critical Care Certification, intermittent hemodialysis and/or CRRT, cardiac rhythm analysis, Pacemakers, Cardioversion/Defibrillation, Emergency Cardiac Arrest Management, External Ventricular Devices, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
