Critical Care Nurse

The University of Alberta Hospital's Critical Care Program is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join its interdisciplinary care team. As a critical care nurse, you will provide evidence-based care to patients with critical illness or trauma, often with multisystem involvement. You will work collaboratively with the team to provide positive patient outcomes and excellence in patient and family-centered care while adhering to hospital policy and standards of care.
Job Summary:As a Registered Nurse in the Critical Care Program, you will be responsible for planning, assessing, implementing, and evaluating care using evidence-based practices. You will work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring continuous and intermittent renal replacement for acute and chronic failure. You will also have the opportunity to work with patients undergoing liver transplant and kidney/pancreas transplants.
Responsibilities:- Provide evidence-based care to patients with critical illness or trauma
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to provide positive patient outcomes
- Assess, implement, and evaluate care using evidence-based practices
- Provide care to patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring continuous and intermittent renal replacement
- Work with patients undergoing liver transplant and kidney/pancreas transplants
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Previous experience within an ICU setting, observation room, inpatient trauma, or experience with ventilated patients is preferred
- Certifications, training, or experience with ACLS, TNCC, CNA Critical Care Certification, intermittent hemodialysis and/or CRRT, cardiac rhythm analysis, Pacemakers, Cardioversion/Defibrillation, Emergency Cardiac Arrest Management, External Ventricular Devices, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
