Job Title: Director of Housing and Operations Management

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Housing and Operations Management to oversee the management of our housing programs, maintain band buildings and community infrastructure, and apply for housing and O&M related funding sources.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the housing and operations maintenance programs, ensuring all initiatives align with the community's long-term goals.
  2. Develop high-level strategies for housing development and community infrastructure maintenance, setting objectives that support both immediate and future community needs.
  3. Facilitate coordination among the housing, maintenance, and finance departments to optimize project planning and resource allocation.
  4. Oversee maintenance management, ensuring it is conducted efficiently without direct intervention in day-to-day operations.
  5. Approve maintenance strategies and project plans, ensuring they are in line with budgetary constraints and community standards.
  6. Ensure collaborative project management approaches are adhered to, promoting effective communication across departments.
  7. Maintain a high-level view of project progress and maintenance activities, intervening strategically when necessary to direct resources or adjust plans.
  8. Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to ensure the community benefits from innovative practices and efficient technologies.
  9. Lead the application process for housing and O&M related funding sources, collaborating with internal and external resources to secure grants and financial support necessary for project and operational funding.
  10. Provide periodic reviews and reports to the Executive Director and other stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategic needs.
Qualifications:
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning, or Business Administration. Advanced degrees or certifications in housing management or Indigenous studies may be preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in Residential Home Building and Maintenance. Extensive experience in housing management, including direct experience with CMHC programs and Indigenous housing policies. Proven track record in managing large-scale housing projects and writing successful grant applications.
  3. Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, proficient in financial management, strategic planning, and project management. Knowledge of provincial and federal building codes, Indigenous cultures, and the specific housing needs of Indigenous communities.

  2. Working Hours: 8:00am-3:30pm (Monday – Friday)
