Job Summary

Baycrest Hospital is seeking a Behavioural Support Specialist to join our Ambulatory Clinical Services team. This is a temporary full-time position that will last approximately 18 months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Behavioural Care Plans: Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop, build, and evaluate behavioural care plans and interventions for patients on the Behavioural Neurology unit.
  • Provide Training and Support: Develop and support the skills of our care team, who assess and treat patients with dementia, various neurodegenerative diseases, and other associated behaviours.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Clinical Assessments: Provide comprehensive clinical assessments with a focus on identifying factors contributing to responsive behaviours utilizing a bio-psychosocial framework.
  • Collaborate with Clients and Care Partners: Collaborate with client, care partners, and the client's circle of care to develop and disseminate individualized behavior management interventions and care plans.
  • Participate in Data Collection and Reporting: Participate in data collection and reporting on a number of accountability measures.
  • Attend Team Meetings and Educational Series: Attend and contribute to team meetings, patient rounds, and educational series.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a Relevant Field: Master's degree in a relevant field such as psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Registration as a Behaviour Analyst: Registration as a Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
  • Experience Working with Neurodegenerative Diseases: Minimum three (3) years demonstrated expertise and knowledge working with individuals with various neurodegenerative diseases including dementia, and those with acute behavioural changes and associated responsive behaviours.
  • Training and Experience in Behavioural Support: Training and experience in applied behaviour analysis and behavioural support management approaches including, but not limited to Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), P.I.E.C.E.S., U-First, Montessori Approach.
  • Excellent Clinical-Reasoning and Interprofessional Collaboration Skills: Demonstrated ability and experience conducting clinical research, and demonstrated excellent clinical-reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving, and interprofessional collaboration skills.
