De Beers Group, a global leader in the diamond industry, is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at the Gahcho Kué Mine in Canada.

Job Overview

This role is responsible for the preventative maintenance and major repair of mobile mining equipment, including Komatsu PC5500 Front Load Shovels, Excavators, and Loaders. The ideal candidate will have experience servicing heavy-duty machinery and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans to ensure the safe completion of tasks;
  • Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of mobile equipment to prevent downtime and extend its lifespan;
  • Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, diagnose problems, and determine the extent of mechanical issues;
  • Work with manufacturers to rebuild components and troubleshoot complex mechanical problems;
  • Document completed work orders in a timely manner and communicate updates to supervisors and coworkers;
  • Collaborate with planners and schedulers to develop work packages and provide input on project requirements;
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adhere to company policies and standards.
Requirements
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada;
  • Valid interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson's Heavy Duty Mechanic or Technician Qualification;
  • 5-7 years of experience servicing Komatsu and/or other Hydraulic shovel equipment;
  • Training and experience with Komatsu Electrical and Hydraulic systems, Cummins Engines, and computerized maintenance management systems (Komtrax/SAP);
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems;
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards; and
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.

  • A competitive salary range of CAD $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience;
