Job Title: Senior Heavy Equipment Technician

De Beers Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Mobile Maintenance team at the Gahcho Kué Mine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and major repair of our mobile mining equipment, including the Komatsu PC5500 Front Load Shovel, PC2000 Excavator, and WA1200 Loader.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of mobile equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, and diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Rebuild components and work with manufacturers as needed.
  • Document and return completed work orders in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Supervisors and co-workers to coordinate work and provide updates.
  • Provide input and work collaboratively with Planners and Schedulers to develop work packages.
Requirements:
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Valid interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson's Heavy Duty Mechanic or Technician Qualification.
  • Experience servicing Komatsu and/or other Hydraulic shovel equipment (5-7 years).
  • Training and experience with Komatsu Electrical and Hydraulic systems.
  • Training and experience with Cummins Engines.
  • Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (Komtrax/SAP).
  • Experience with the Pit Viper 271.
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.
