Job Title: Heavy Equipment TechnicianMining

De Beers Group is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment TechnicianMining to join our team at the Gahcho Kué Mine in the Northwest Territories. As a key member of our Mobile Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and major repairs to mobile, auxiliary, and stationary mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of mobile equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, and diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
  • Rebuild components and work with manufacturers as needed to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Document and return completed work orders in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with Supervisors and co-workers to coordinate work and provide updates.
  • Provide input and work collaboratively with Planners and Schedulers to develop work packages.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Inter-provincial trade qualification in heavy equipment.
  • Minimum 12 months of surface mining field experience repairing and maintaining heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Ability to communicate, share information, and seek input to complete assigned work.
  • Ability to approach work with a continuous product improvement mindset.
  • Solid hydraulic and electrical skills, paired with the ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards.
  • Experience maintaining hydraulic shovels and SAP would be considered assets.
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.
