Job Title: Heavy Equipment TechnicianMining

De Beers Group is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment TechnicianMining to join our team at the Gahcho Kué Mine in the Northwest Territories. As a key member of our Mobile Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and major repairs to mobile, auxiliary and stationary mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans ahead of the work being completed and perform work in a safe well-managed manner;
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and servicing of mobile equipment;
  • Check for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions;
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and determine the extent of mechanical problems;
  • Rebuild components and work with manufacturers when necessary;
  • Document and return completed work orders in a timely manner;
  • Communicate with Supervisors and co-workers to coordinate work and provide updates;
  • Provide input and work collaboratively with Planners and Schedulers to develop work packages.
Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid Inter-provincial trade qualification in heavy equipment;
  • A minimum of 12 months of surface mining field experience repairing and maintaining heavy earthmoving equipment;
  • Ability to communicate, share information and seek input to complete assigned work;
  • Ability to approach work with a continuous product improvement mindset;
  • Solid hydraulic and electrical skills, paired with the ability to read and understand schematics;
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards;
  • Experience maintaining hydraulic shovels and SAP would be considered assets;
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.
