Job Summary:

We are seeking an Indigenous Health Interpreter and Resource Support Specialist to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. This role will provide assistance, guidance, and support to patients and their families to navigate through the healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services in Cree, Ojibway/Saulteaux, and Oji-Cree to facilitate communication between healthcare providers and patients.
  • Assist patients and their families in navigating the healthcare system.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to provide culturally sensitive care.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare practices.

Requirements:

  • Language competency in Cree, Ojibway/Saulteaux, or Oji-Cree.
  • General knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

This is a term position with a three-month internship. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work at various sites within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, including the Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface General Hospital, and the Mobile Unit.
