Job Summary

As a Peer Support Worker with Northern Health Authority, you will have the opportunity to share your lived experience and knowledge with clients in our Acute Care department. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide emotional and social support, life skills assistance, information, and resources to clients living with substance use/mental illness.

Key Responsibilities

Provide peer support and guidance to clients in their recovery journey
Collaborate with the team to develop and implement individualized care plans
Facilitate access to community resources and services
Provide education and support on harm reduction and self-determination

Requirements

Lived experience with recovery from a mental illness and/or substance use
Successful completion of a recognized Peer Support Training program
2 years recent related experience in a peer support role or an equivalent combination of education, training, peer support, and employment experience
