About the Role:

The Direct Support Worker is a vital member of our team at Tri-County Mennonite Homes, providing support and assistance to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support Worker, you will be responsible for promoting independence and person-centered care, working closely with the Primary Direct Support on shift and reporting to the Program Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, promoting their independence and person-centered care.
  • Work closely with the Primary Direct Support on shift to ensure seamless care and support.
  • Report to the Program Manager, ensuring that all care and support plans are implemented effectively.
  • Assist individuals with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household chores.
  • Encourage and support individuals to participate in community activities, promoting socialization and community involvement.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals, families, and other stakeholders, ensuring that their needs are met and their rights are respected.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in the social services field, such as a DSW/PSW or enrolled in a related college or university program is preferred.
  • Related experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • CPR, Emergency First Aid, NVCI certification.
  • A valid G license is required for driving residents' appointments and activities.
  • Experience supporting individuals with Dual Diagnosis, Mental Health & Addictions would be an asset.
