About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Learning Support English Language Learning Teacher to join our team at New Westminster Schools. As a Learning Support Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting students who require additional assistance with their English language skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans (AIPs) to support students' English language development
  • Provide direct support to students in small group and one-on-one settings
  • Collaborate with teachers and school-based teams to ensure students receive comprehensive support
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians to ensure seamless support
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay up-to-date with curriculum requirements

Requirements:

  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate
  • Diploma or Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL Diploma) K-12 from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Ability to develop and implement AIPs
  • Ability to provide direct service to students in small group and one-on-one settings
  • Ability to provide direct support to teachers and school-based teams
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to communicate with students and parents/guardians
  • Successful experience and demonstrated ability to work with colleagues as part of a collaborative team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience at the level as required by the position (either Elementary, Middle, or Secondary)
  • Experience in the formation and implementation of AIPs
  • Demonstrated ability in the area of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiation, especially as it pertains to ELL

Compensation:

Salary as per Teachers' Collective Agreement. Current salary range is $57,984.00 to $107,490.00 annually plus comprehensive benefits package.
