We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Support Teacher to join our team at School District #40 (New Westminster). As a Learning Support Teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting students with diverse learning needs and providing a range of support services to ensure their academic success.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver a range of support services to students with diverse learning needs, including those without designations who require learning support.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and school-based teams to provide direct and consultative support to students and staff.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide support to teachers in differentiating, adapting, and modifying curricula, instruction, and assessment.
- Provide direct service to students in small group, pull-out, and push-in situations.
- Support teachers in implementing functional behavior assessments and positive behavior support plans.
- Valid BC Teachers Certificate in Elementary education.
- Diploma or Master's Degree in Special Education, preferably with coursework in students with special needs, strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum, learning disabilities, giftedness, assistive technology, or augmentative communication.
- Level B Assessment qualification (EPSE 421 or equivalent).
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and advocate for inclusion and students with diverse learning needs.
- Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary level.
- Drafting, reviewing, and revising IEPs for a wide range of students.
- Knowledge of BoardMaker, Read & Write, and/or other assistive technologies.
- Demonstrated ability in the area of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiation.
