Job Summary
The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a registered psychologist to provide psychological services in the Forensic Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit. As a key member of the interprofessional team, you will work collaboratively to provide evidence-based clinical assessments and treatment for patients with severe and persistent mental illness who have come into contact with the law.
The successful candidate will have a Doctoral level degree in psychology and be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. They will have demonstrated skills to work with an interprofessional team, particularly those in transition, and have experience providing, teaching, and supervising short-term evidence-based psychotherapies.
The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment. They will also have a demonstrated interest and aptitude for academic activities and the ability to conduct independent research relevant to the mandate of the Forensic Program.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychological services to patients in the Forensic Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit
- Work collaboratively with the interprofessional team to provide evidence-based clinical assessments and treatment
- Develop and implement treatment plans that are tailored to the needs of each patient
- Conduct research and evaluation activities to inform the development of new programs and services
- Supervise students and provide training and education to staff
Qualifications
- Doctoral level degree in psychology
- Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
- Experience working with patients with severe and persistent mental illness
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment
