Job Summary

Homes First Society is seeking a skilled Contract Programming Supervisor to implement and oversee events, outings, and recreational activities tailored to the needs of residents at our locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Gather feedback from residents and staff to design and oversee the implementation and evaluation of programs, outings, and recreational activities.
  • Community Partnerships: Connect with outside individuals or agencies to provide services that meet the needs of clients.
  • Program Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor current and ongoing programs, provide support, and evaluate performance on a regular basis.
  • Data Management: Keep data and statistics on programs, events, and outings, recording attendance and involvement of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communication Strategies: Create communication strategies to ensure residents and staff are informed and well-equipped regarding programs.
  • Team Coordination: Work closely with the Manager and Supervisor of Programming to coordinate events, obtain resources, and volunteers.
  • Team Supervision: Prioritize and assign duties to team members when appropriate, supervise a unionized workforce within the context of the Collective Agreement.
  • Crisis Intervention: Intervene in crises, de-escalate conflicts, and respond to client emergencies, including overdoses and the administration of Naloxone or oxygen.
  • Policy Adherence: Ensure adherence to Homes First Policy and Procedures, including Homes First's Harm Reduction Policies.
  • Interdepartmental Communication: Ensure effective communications with other departments within Homes First Society and with external agencies.
  • Employee Performance Management: Manage employee performance and perform necessary administrative duties such as timekeeping and performance reviews.
  • Documentation: Ensure that all documentation is completed to agency standards.
Qualifications
  • Education: Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Experience: At least 3 years' experience working with people who are homeless, under-housed, and dealing with addictions and mental illness.
  • Supervisory Experience: At least 1 year's experience supervising unionized staff.
  • Case Management: Demonstrated experience performing case management functions and ability to effectively prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Communication and Organization: Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Supervisory Experience in a Unionized Setting: Supervisory experience in a unionized setting an asset.
  • Knowledge of Laws and Guidelines: Knowledge of relevant laws, standards, and guidelines.
  • Community Resources: Knowledge of resources and services available in the community.
  • Interpersonal and Conflict Resolution Skills: Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organization skills.
  • Certifications: Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention an asset.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literacy, including the ability to access and use a variety of information system tools to support the delivery of the project.
  • Physical Demands: Able to lift boxes up to 25 lbs.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work outside of regularly scheduled hours to accommodate activities such as training and events.
  • Harm Reduction Training: Certificate of Completion of Homelessness Learning Hub's Harm Reduction for the Homelessness Sector considered an asset.
