Drywall Installer Job Description

At Chandigarh Construction Inc., we are seeking a skilled Drywall Installer to join our team. As a Drywall Installer, you will be responsible for installing drywall sheets, applying successive coats of compound, and sanding seams and joints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation: Measure, cut, fit, and install drywall sheets to ensure a smooth and even finish.
  • Finishing: Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints to achieve a high-quality finish.
  • Preparation: Clean and prepare surfaces for installation, and cure freshly plastered surfaces.
  • Specialized Tasks: Fill joints, nail indentations, holes, and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife, and finish corners and angles.
  • Operational Tasks: Mix plaster ingredients to the desired consistency, mould and install ornamental plaster panels, cornices, and trim, and spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings.
  • Installation and Attachment: Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring, cut openings in lath for heating and ventilation piping, ducts, and electrical outlets, and install vapour barriers and thermal and sound insulation.
  • Layout and Planning: Prepare wall and ceiling layouts, and operate CADD and other computer software systems.

Requirements: A college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year, and 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in drywall installation.

Work Environment: This is a permanent position, working 35 hours per week, with English as the primary work language.
