Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Analyst to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to our team members, ensuring the effective management of corporate critical application support activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical advice to team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to manage their individual corporate critical application support activities.
  • Employee Development: Assist in the management of employee development for their respective group, ensuring that team members have the necessary training and support to excel in their roles.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with users, co-workers, and management, demonstrating professional competence and technical expertise.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical and functional expertise on a wide range of strategic, financial, regulatory, safety, and reputational impactful applications.
  • Incident Management: Analyze and respond to complex incidents, problem reports, and inquiries in a timely manner, recommending and taking the appropriate course of action and/or system changes required to resolve them.
  • Software Development: Produce detailed software design and functional specifications for bug fixes, maintenance releases, and enhancements related to in-scope applications, and develop software code based on these specifications.
  • Database Management: Maintain a library of all Application(s) code, including a record of all updates to the code, and maintain and track all access to the code, as well as database objects and documentation.
Requirements
  • Education: 2-year Diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience: 8 years' related work experience, with competency in managing medium to large projects.
  • Skills: Superior interpersonal and customer service skills, immediate knowledge of data center technologies, virtualization, storage, backup, networking, security, and all related supporting infrastructure.
  • Leadership: Leadership and management skills, with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with coworkers and perform all duties in a professional manner.
  • Technology Expertise: Technology subject matter expert with applications such as SAP, Customer Information Systems (CIS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Mobile Workforce Management (MWFM), Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI), or Content Management Systems (CMS) is an asset.
