The Senior UX Researcher in our Advanced Tech (AT) stream will be responsible for all the UX needs of our main robotic handling product, On-Grid Robotic Pick. This role encompasses both research into the software and hardware aspects of this product and will be involved partnering alongside a number of Product Managers working on scaling this product in an embedded manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a flexible delivery-focused approach and liaise with Product Managers within AT to understand and align effort with roadmap objectives/deadlines and UX priorities.
- Plan, conduct, and analyze user research studies from scoping to deliverables to gain deep insights into user behaviors, needs, and motivations.
- Utilize a variety of research methods, including being able to test hardware usability even at the very earliest stages of the build.
- Provide research insights to partner Product Managers to enable strong data-informed decision-making.
- Contribute to UX deliverables and artifacts that meet user & product stream missions / objectives and drive UX maturity in the space.
- Share knowledge within the UX community on request and with guidance.
- Collaborate with other UXers and Product teams to explore multiple approaches to a problem and embrace iteration to improve products in line with team deadlines.
- Challenge ideas/problems & validate solutions using data & insights from end users, retailers & stakeholders.
- Understand product and user access constraints to determine the most effective research methodology to employ.
- Be able to understand the research conducted in the perspective of the wider product need and future, to deliver not just useful insights for now, but with an eye on the needs of the future product.
- Juggle multiple projects and stakeholder relationships at once.
- Acknowledge the importance of achieving an embedded UX approach to product development and how to create that with limited resources.
Experience Required:
- Strong prior experience in UX research, ideally in a B2B and/or hardware setting (though not necessary).
- Knowledge of working with mixed teams / functional areas, including product management, software engineering, hardware engineering, and UX/UI design.
- Proven ability to plan, manage, track, and deliver on commitments.
- Proven experience working at all stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Intellectual rigor, possesses relevant abilities & is able to pick up new skills quickly.
- Ability to work in a team effectively and/or work autonomously.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Capture business needs and user requirements to support product realization.
- Previous experience working in embedded products or with hardware usability testing is ideal.
