We are seeking a skilled Public Health Inspector I to join our team in Northern Alberta. With a population of approximately 3,900 and serving a trade area of 26,000, High Level offers a unique blend of rural and urban living. As a Public Health Inspector I, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive environmental public health program within an assigned geographical area.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or a related field, as well as a recognized Environmental Health technical program and certification in Public Health Inspection (Canada). Previous experience in Environmental Public Health is preferred.

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS offers a Northern Allowance of up to $6,300 per year and travel expense reimbursement of up to $1,235 per year. You will have the opportunity to work in a diverse northern landscape, surrounded by expansive prairie fields, bustling urban centers, lush wetlands, boreal forests, and sprawling mountain passes.

This role involves performing work duties in the interest of prevention, correcting or limiting the effects of environmental health hazards. You will support individual and community wellness through monitoring inspections, disease surveillance, consultation, and enforcement of the Public Health Act and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a comprehensive environmental public health program within an assigned geographical area
  • Perform work duties in the interest of prevention, correction, or limitation of environmental health hazards
  • Support individual and community wellness through monitoring inspections, disease surveillance, consultation, and enforcement of the Public Health Act and regulations

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
