Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career in emergency medical services? Alberta Health Services is seeking a Primary Care Paramedic to join our team in Northern Alberta.

About the Role

As a Primary Care Paramedic, you will assess emergency scenes and patients, and may transport ill or injured patients from emergency scenes and between facilities. This includes operating ambulances or other modes of transportation. You will treat patients by administering minor medications, basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and semi-automated defibrillation. You will also lead the BLS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes.

Requirements
  • Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Valid class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent
  • 5 year driver abstract current within six months with no more than six demerits prior to commencing work
Working Conditions

The working environment for a PCP is demanding and includes exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind, moving traffic, and industrial and agricultural equipment. You will need to travel in all weather conditions and to remote locations (e.g. backcountry) with exposure to hazardous and graphic scenes and direct exposure to bodily fluids.

Location

This role is based in High Prairie station, which is located in the beautiful Big Lake Country. The landscape is dominated by expansive prairies and surrounded by several lakes where fishing is a popular past time.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is approximately $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
