Senior Structural Engineer

About the Role:
Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Senior or Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group in Trail, BC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering project requirements, ensuring safety and integrity principles, and promoting compliance with engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Trail structural team with project delivery, scope, cost, and schedule for green and brownfield projects.
- Implement safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.
- Promote compliance with engineering standards and internal procedures.
- Conduct work with a focus on safety.
- Conduct structural inspections of existing brownfield structures.
- Prepare engineering calculations for new structures and modifications.
- Prepare technical memos and reports.
- Provide input to engineering, operating, and capital cost estimates.
- Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule.
- Seal documents and drawings as required.
- Manage small capital and maintenance projects.
- Assist in defining project scope and preparing proposals.
- Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers.
- Prepare weekly engineering status reports.
Requirements:
- Recognized degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Registration as a professional engineer in BC or ability to register.
- Minimum five years engineering experience in the industrial sector.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to function with minimal supervision.
- Sound understanding of Canadian design engineering codes and technical standards.
- Experience with Mathcad, Staad Pro, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong commitment to Hatch and client safety standards.
- Ability to delegate tasks and supervise others.
- Experience with procedures and workflows in project execution.
- Good leadership skills.
- Alignment with Hatch's manifesto values.
