Your Role:


BBA is in search of a Lead Mechanical Engineer specializing in mining process plants to facilitate our ongoing expansion in Western Canada. The chosen candidate will be instrumental in all stages of engineering projects, from preliminary studies to field execution, with an emphasis on detailed engineering. As a senior figure within the mechanical engineering team, the individual will ensure technical excellence, cultivate new business prospects, and promote team growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop mechanical scopes of work, budgets, and proposals.
  2. Conduct high-level engineering on significant mechanical packages, including crushing and grinding circuits, flotation circuits, leaching circuits, and dewatering.
  3. Lead mechanical scope on conceptual design studies, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering.
  4. Act as a vital team member for small to large brownfield/greenfield mining projects.
  5. Engage in site visits, inspections, condition assessments, commissioning, and testing (site visits typically range from 3-10 days at a time, up to twenty-five days annually; these figures are negotiable during the interview).
  6. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers, actively sharing knowledge and supporting skill enhancement within the team.
  7. Encourage a workplace culture that values enjoyment while delivering high-quality professional outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Proven track record with strong technical skills as a Mechanical Engineer on mineral process plant projects.
  2. Experience in base and precious metals: asset.
  3. Ability to interpret PFDs and process design criteria from process engineering, oversee plant layouts, mechanical equipment selection, technical bid evaluation and validation, and pump sizing.
  4. University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  5. 12+ years of relevant engineering experience in the mining sector, with a preference for 5+ years in consulting.
  6. Must be a registered P.Eng in Canada.
  7. Valid driver's license.
  8. Willingness to undertake site work and short-term assignments (3-10 days at a time, up to twenty-five days a year). Site experience is considered a strong asset.
