Job Summary

This role combines the responsibilities of a Pharmacy Assistant and a Health Care Program Assistant. The successful candidate will provide seamless, high-quality service and support to patients and physicians through assistance with private and provincial drug plan navigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with assigned health care practitioners and report on patient status.
  • Complete and coordinate reimbursement navigation and administrative services for patients with public and private payers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, especially via phone.
  • Create and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Enter data accurately into various systems.

Pharmacy Assistant Duties

  • Assist with the dispensing of prescription medication and other medical products under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Package and label medications for distribution, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and organize medication orders for delivery to patients and healthcare facilities.
  • Perform administrative duties, including answering phones and operating cash registers.
  • Liaise with healthcare providers and patients to obtain and verify prescription information.
  • Manage and update inventory, including ordering and restocking medications and supplies.

Requirements

  • Previous work experience in community pharmacy is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Kroll Pharmacy Software is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, excellent telephone etiquette, and a keen eye for accuracy are required.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian drug reimbursement landscape is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of computer environments and basic computer programs (MS Office, Google) is required.
  • Ability to organize workflow and manage time effectively to meet client and customer deadlines.
  • Capacity to work in a team environment and support co-workers.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive hourly rate. The expected hours of work are 40 per week, with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday. No weekends are required. The work location is in-person.
