Pharmacy Assistant Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Neighbourly Pharmacy in New Westminster, BC. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with prescription processing, including data entry, labeling, and packaging under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.
  • Count, measure, and package prescription medications accurately and safely, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Manage inventory levels, receive and unpack incoming shipments, and conduct stock rotations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy area, including medication shelves, dispensing counters, and workstations.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents, and assist with processing insurance claims and coordinating prescription transfers.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies, including privacy and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a pharmacy assistant program or relevant healthcare certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in a retail or healthcare setting is advantageous but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks.
  • Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and pharmacy software systems.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position, with standard work hours typically ranging from 35-40 hours per week.
  • The position may require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting/moving of moderate-weight boxes or containers.
  • Work shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the operational hours of the pharmacy.
